Using my own designs, I carve traditional and unique love spoons out of lime wood,  an indigenous species used for centuries for wood carving. All spoons are hand made by myself and finished to the highest quality.

Love spoons make a special gift for all occasions  especially weddings and anniversaries. Inside my shop you will find both  traditional and more contemporary designs for sale or you could commission a unique love spoon for that special day.

I also carve solid oak garden features  which make a great centre piece for any rockery or flower bed. I am happy to accept commissions and will consider most designs. I also carve oak  benches out of 4 inch thick oak.

Although I try and keep as many items in stock as possible many things are made to order and may take up to three weeks to carve. If you need something very quickly then please let me know.

I like to make spoons that are personal to you, so as well as the more traditional symbols I can include unusual ideas to make your love spoon a unique and special gift to treasure forever.

Would you like your love spoon engraved?

Would you like your lovespoon engraved? I use a pyrograph to burn the words into the wood. It's best done on the back of the spoon as it contrasts strongly with the pale wood. Engraving is free of charge and the wording should be emailed to me when ordering the spoon.

How to commission a love spoon

To make a lovespoon to your own requirements, I will need to know two things. Firstly, what would you like on the spoon? Traditional decoration includes bells, hearts and knots, but you can commission something very different. I have been asked to carve a care bear, an electric plug and a kiwi. I will consider carving most things. Ideally there should be at least 3 things and not more than 6, although sometimes I have gone up to seven or eight.

I will also need to know how much you wish to spend so I can design a spoon to suit your budget: as simple or intricate as money allows. Some things will naturally be more expensive than others but as a rough guide my commissions start at around £70 and go up to several hundred with the average being around £90 - £150.

Once I know what you want, I will create a design and email it to you for approval. Once you are happy with the design I ask you for payment and then carve the spoon. Ideally I like 6 - 8 weeks for love spoon commissions, although sometimes I can do it sooner.
